boiled frog principle
Definition
A rule of physics by which S & M practitioners explain the gradual build-up of tolerance to pain: If you toss a frog into a pot of boiling water it will jump right back out, but if you put the frog in a pot of lukewarm water and turn up the heat slowly, the frog will allow itself to boil.
